Education is the cornerstone of personal and societal growth, and for many young individuals, pursuing higher education can be a transformative journey. This was always the belief and actions of Pat Whitaker. Pat believed in the power of learning for the youth, and she proved that throughout her life and career as a teacher and lover-of-learning. However, the financial barriers associated with obtaining a college degree can be a significant hurdle for many of our youth here in Utah and throughout the Intermountain West. This is why we were so excited to finally be able to launch our first annual Pat Whitaker Education Scholarship in her honor! For the youth that were selected as recipients, the money from the scholarship will be able to help them pursue their dreams in their respective industries.
Scholarships play many important roles in a young person's life. Generally speaking, the Pat Whitaker Education Scholarship has the power to influence the recipients' college experiences in the following ways:
Breaking Financial Barriers:
One of the most apparent benefits of the Pat Whitaker Education Scholarship is its ability to break down financial barriers that might otherwise impede a student's access to higher education. Including ALL youth, especially those that may not qualify for traditional scholarships or can't "check a box" on an application, is something that Pat would have made sure was included in a scholarship in her name.

We are empowering our youth to help Build the Best: People, Communities, and Future, even if they aren't doing it as employee-owners of Whitaker Construction!
