TIBBLE FORK DAM REHABILITATION PROJECT

$8.7 Million- Completed 2017

This project consisted of rehabilitation of the existing dam built in 1962. There were two primary reasons for this project; increase water storage and to bring the dam up to new seismic standards.
Work included demolition of the existing spillway and outlet structures, 65,000 cubic yards of excavation, placement of 121,000 cubic yards of zoned earth fills, and 15,000 cubic yards of imported rock and sand for the drainage filters. A bentonite cut off wall and grout curtain were also constructed to depths of 80’ and 2,000 cubic yards of structural concrete was placed for the new spillway.

AV WATKINS 2 FOOT DAM RAISE PROJECT

$9.2 Million- Completed in 2017

The AV Watkins Dam is a 15-mile long earthen dam surrounding Willard Bay Reservoir. To raise the dam approximately 535,000-cy of zoned earth materials were mined from an adjacent borrow source, hauled, and then placed on the dam surface. Approximately 400,000 cubic yards of granular borrow was placed on the west side of the reservoir dike to strengthen the existing embankment and add dam crest width with the balance of the material being a clay cap placed on the dam crest. Over 71,000 tons of rip-rap was placed on the inner dam face to prevent wave erosion of the dike. 

LAST CHANCE DAM REHABILITATION PROJECT

$2.4 Million- Completed in 2016

This project consisted of diversion and bypassing of the Bear River in order to demolish the existing 200-foot long timber crib dam and replace it with a new roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam.  The dam construction required the onsite manufacture and placement of approximately 3,700 cy of RCC in a continuous pour. In addition another 900 cy of structural concrete was placed for the associated headwalls, training walls, canal intake and finish cap to the RCC.
